WHO
LFA is a collective of photographers who share a love of photography in it's many incarnations and act as a sounding board for each other; sharing knowledge, resources, and insights. We started as a group of individuals meeting to foster our own creative endeavors and to further the awareness of their medium in our community. Some members focus on traditional processes and tools of the medium to create their art; others push known limits to find a vocabulary for their expression.
To date we have produced four successful gallery exhibitions. For two of the shows, we voted on a title/concept for a show and produced work illuminating the concept. The other two shows highlighted each photographer's best work from the past year. In addition, we produced collateral material and orchestrated an opening gala for each show.
Our last thematic show was entitled ‘a view from the kitchen‘ which included a myriad of images from 8 different perspectives of the show title. Images ranged from literal interpretations of the title to a series shot in Hells Kitchen, Manhattan. To expand on the theme we prepared a dinner for 50 of our closest in the gallery for the opening.

WHAT
We are currently producing another thematic show entitled ‘three'. The title will be open to interpretation for each photographer. Since the background of each photographer is unique, this guarantees an exciting collection of imagery. Each photographer will produce work to fit within the allocated space, typically ~10 linear feet. 8-12 experienced local photographers will require ~120 running feet for installation. This number is currently an estimate, however in previous shows each photographer has required ~10 linear feet. Typically, our show is on view for one month, with an opening or closing gala. We will or can provide all collateral material for press release, flyers and signage for the show. If the past is any indication of what this show will bring, we should expect ~ 3 images per photographer.
WHEN
We are preparing now in hopes of hanging the show for exhibition beginning the first weekend in July or the first weekend in August.
